The Board of EPSO-G energy transmission and exchange group of companies elected the members of the Board of Energy Cells in relation to the implementation of the energy storage facility system project. To ensure good governance practices and the implementation of legislation, three members of the Board were elected for four years, namely the delegated member of the Board of the parent company EPSO-G Viktoras Baltuškonis, the independent member Darius Klimašauskas and Dovilė Kapačinskaitė, who was elected as the Board member's civil servant.
The delegated member of the Board of EPSO-G Viktoras Baltuškonis will strengthen the company's competences in the field of innovation and development. V. Baltuškonis, a member of the EPSO-G finance department, is also a member of the Board of the EPSO-G group of companies—international biofuel exchange Get Baltic and natural gas exchange Get Baltic—responsible for financial supervision.
The civil servant Dovilė Kapačinskaitė is currently working as a senior adviser at the Strategic change management group at the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy. On the Board of Energy Cells, D. Kapačinskaitė will be responsible for the supervision of project management, control and national security interests.
EPSO-G confirmed the candidacy of Darius Klimašauskas, an independent consultant to the consulting company Talisman, who was chosen from 11 candidates, to the position of an independent member of the Board. The independent member of the Board will be responsible for the financial management, purchase and sales transactions of the companies.
Energy Cells will integrate a system of energy storage facilities with a total power and capacity of 200 megawatts (MW) and 200 megawatt-hours (MWh) to the Lithuanian energy network. Four parks of 50 MW each and energy storage parks with a capacity of 50 MWh will be placed by Energy Cells in Vilnius, Šiauliai, Alytus and Utena. The energy storage system will serve as an instant in isolated work energy reserve, and ensure a reliable and stable Lithuanian electricity system to synchronisation with continental European networks. In the future, it will contribute to the rapid integration of renewable energy sources.
Energy Cells will start providing the isolated power system work reserve assurance service in December this year.
100% of shares of Energy Cells, which was appointed as the energy storage facility system operator, belongs to the EPSO-G energy transmission and exchange group of companies. The rights and responsibilities of the sole shareholder of EPSO-G are implemented by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania.
