Information about the project
Main objective is to create single natural gas trading platform operating in the Eastern Baltic region and oriented towards the market participants of the Baltic countries and Finland. Currently market participants from the three Baltic states utilizing GET Baltic exchange have an opportunity to sell or buy natural gas in the Lithuanian virtual trading point. With the next stage of project deveopment, single trading platform for the Baltic countries will be created. After "Balticconector" pipeline is built between Estonia and Finland, Finnish market participants will be able to join the platform as well.The project which stems out of the BEMIP action plan is planned to be implemented by the year 2020.
PROJECT GOALS AND SIGNIFICANCE
- To promote the development of market by increasing competitiveness and transparency
- to form liquidity of the common market and competitive natural gas prices
- to ensure effective trade and settlement processes
- to decrease administrative burden for the natural gas market participants
- to create a center of competences that would provide professional consultations for the market participants
